BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Young Republicans claim a group of protesters are spreading misinformation. It comes as that group, which includes former vice chair Chance Boen, accuses the organization of denying membership.

The protest took place outside Casey’s Steakhouse on F Street ahead of the Young Republican’s annual elections. Boen, who admits to having radical online behavior, claims he was expelled from the organization due to his criticism of Israel, which some perceive as anti-Semitic. Despite denying these allegations in an interview, Boen’s social media contains rhetoric that contradicts that statement.

Eyewitness News reached out to the Young Republicans, who issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to free speech while condemning misinformation spread by “a handful of radical anti-Semites.” The statement noted that these individuals are not voting members, and many are not registered voters. Protesters, however, assert they are registered Republicans.
