OAKLAND — A 31-year-old man was shot multiple times Tuesday night as he sat in his parked vehicle in East Oakland, authorities said.

The man was in critical but stable condition at a hospital where he is being treated for at least two wounds.

The shooting happened about 11:32 p.m. Tuesday in the 6700 block of Eastlawn Street, a primarily residential area.

Police said a truck pulled up and a masked man got out, approached the vehicle the man was in and shot at him multiple times, wounding him at least twice.  It was not known if any words were exchanged before the shooting.

The gunman then fled in the truck.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.

Detailed descriptions of the shooter and the truck were not released.
