The San Jose Sharks have claimed defenseman Vincent Iorio off waivers from the Washington Capitals.
Timothy Liljegren, who suffered an upper-body injury against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, was placed on injured reserve as a corresponding move.

Iorio, 22, has played nine career NHL games spanning the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. He has one career assist and is a plus-one.
The newest San Jose Sharks defenseman also played in one Stanley Cup Playoff game for the Capitals. During the 23-24 season, Iorio had just 1:50 of ice time in a game against the New York Rangers. He finished as a -1.

In 67 games with the Hershey Bears in the AHL last season, Irorio had five goals and 20 assists. He won back-to-back Calder Cup championships in 2022 and 2023.
