LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) – ALDI opened its first Long Beach location on Thursday, with customers lining up as early as 3 a.m.
The first 100 shoppers received gift cards and other freebies.

“It was much more than I had expected,” said Long Beach Mayor Tim Pierce. “I was leaving the gym this morning at 6 o’clock, and I said, ‘Let me just ride by ALDI and see if there’s anybody here.’ They were wrapped around the front, halfway down the side.”
ALDI is located at the old Winn-Dixie storefront at 109 North Cleveland Avenue.
Mayor Pierce said ALDI will help bring in sales tax money that the city was losing to surrounding municipalities.
“It’s great. It’s fantastic. These are sales taxes that we’re keeping in Long Beach.”

This is the third ALDI location to open on the Coast since October 30. The company recently opened its second location in Ocean Springs, as well as one in Gulfport.
Overall, ALDI has six locations in South Mississippi.
In 2023, ALDI announced a buyout of Winn-Dixie’s parent company, Southeastern Grocers, affecting Winn-Dixie locations across Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.
