David was born on April 18, 1966, in Taft, CA to Jim and Sandra Carnahan. David passed away at the age of 59, on November 7, 2025, in Bakersfield, CA. He graduated from Highland High School in Bakersfield. David was very intelligent and could do just about anything he put his mind to. In his younger years, he was a certified welder. However, David was fascinated with electricity and eventually became a certified journeyman with the IBEW Local 428, during his years of being an electrician. He also taught journeyman classes, and his son was lucky enough to be one of his students. David could look at a lot of locations and know that he’s the one that did the wiring for that facility. His last one being the Hard Rock Casino in Tejon. David loved the beach and in his younger years, he enjoyed Cliff diving in the canyon with his best friend, Todd. He also enjoyed playing backgammon and was always up for a game of chess. He became very good at Hacky-sack and was pretty good at barbecuing Tri-tip, accompanied by a Miller Genuine draft in the bottle. He loved to go fishing and we would put Breanna in her playpen right by us at the lake, and fish. David liked heavy metal and classic rock ‘n’ roll. One of the first concerts he took me to was Dio & Dokken. David loved nothing more than being with his family and friends. David had two children, Breanna Crystal Carnahan (deceased in 2003) and Brandon Shawn Carnahan. David loved his grandchildren, Breanna Caden and Taige Carnahan. David also has a sister, Heather Harris and twin older brothers, Marvin and Todd Carnahan.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10AM at the West Side District Cemetery Mausoleum in Taft, followed by a Celebration of Life Potluck at the Taft Moose Lodge, 205 S. 10th Street, Taft, CA 93268.
