BAKERSFIELD, Calif. KGET) — A man who pleaded no contest to driving drunk when he crashed into a house in East Bakersfield was sentenced Wednesday.

Thomas David Gonzalez Jr. received three years’ probation, with the first 90 days to be served in jail, prosecutors said. He has the option to serve work release instead.

His probation terms include abstaining from alcohol and completing substance abuse counseling. He’ll also have to pay restitution in an amount to be determined by the probation department.

Early on Oct. 4, Gonzalez was driving a 2024 Honda Accord on Gage Street that left the roadway and crashed into a house, according to California Highway Patrol. A woman inside was injured.

Gonzalez tried to run but a witness helped an officer catch him, CHP said. He pleaded no contest last month to DUI and hit-and-run charges.
