Police are looking for the dog of a 65-year-old man who suffered life-threatening injuries during an assault Sunday afternoon in the Tenderloin.

San Francisco police said in a statement that the dog ran away after it was kicked by an unknown person. Officers found the man with life-threatening injuries near the area of Post and Leavenworth streets around 3:32 p.m. Sunday.

Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital for his injuries, and the man advised police that the assault happened after the attacker briefly interacted with him.

The dog was last seen walking southbound on Leavenworth Street and is microchipped. Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the dog, named Charlotte Rose. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department at 415-575-4444.
