A Fresno attorney is planning a class action lawsuit against the city over its anti-encampment law.

Two men have been charged under the new encampment law, but both cases were dismissed.

The law is described as broadly banning sitting, lying, sleeping, or camping on any public property, anytime, including sidewalks, parks, and entrances, with penalties up to a year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

However, city leaders are pushing back that steps have been taken to deal with the homeless crisis.

Governor Gavin Newsom has partnered with Caltrans to clean up encampments.
