Line Dancing Wednesdays at Our Place – Dance, Drink, Dine! 8-11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Our Place Event Space and Kitchen. Designed for ages 21 and over, this event combines the best of urban and country line dancing, great food, and unbeatable drink specials. Tickets are $7.
Sacramento Sage Sistahs Gather: Protecting Our Aging Journeys 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Albiani Recreation Center, Lippincott Hall, 8830 Sharkey Ave., Elk Grove. In partnership with California Black Women’s Health Project, Sistahs Aging with Grace and Elegance invites you to join us for an evening of care, connection, and conversation. Commissioner Dr. Lenore Tate of the California Commission on Aging is the featured speaker. Free, attendees must register.
Author Talk & Book Signing featuring Jayne Kennedy 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Guild Theater. This is a special celebration of “Plain Jayne,” the long-awaited memoir by Jayne Kennedy — actress, TV trailblazer, and cultural icon. In this powerful book, Kennedy opens up about her groundbreaking career, personal battles, and the legacy she forged as a Black woman in the media. The evening features an inspiring conversation between her and former Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, followed by a book signing and community gathering honoring a true legend. Tickets are $35.
‘Blade’ (1998) 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Crest Theatre. Experience the epic Marvel superhero film in a theater. Blade (Wesley Snipes) the vampire slayer attempts to save the world from becoming undead. Tickets are $5.
Carlos Anthony – Live Comedy 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Oct. 24-25, at Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club. Anthony’s ability to take life’s twists and turns and find the humor in those moments continues to fuel his rise to stardom. He’s currently featured in his debut comedy special, “Part-Time Famous.” Tickets are $29.
Hornet Experience: Black Excellence 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Sacramento State. This series of events is for prospective high school and community college students to learn about admissions criteria, get admitted on the spot, tour campus, learn how we support students from different affinity groups, and go to a football game. This is your chance to see how you can thrive academically, socially, and personally at Sacramento State. Separate registration is required for the day and night portions.
Black in the Day – Movies in the Park 6-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at John C. Fremont Park. The cult comedy classic “Scary Movie” (2000) is a nostalgic throwback celebrating Black creativity and contributions to film and history. Grab your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to enjoy a cinematic experience with friends, family, and community. Africa House Sacramento 4th Annual Ubuntu Dinner Fundraiser 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 6151 H St. Join an evening of community, culture, and connection to raise funds for Africa House Sacramento, a cultural center celebrating the African diaspora, Caribbean, Black Americans and the community as a whole. Keynote speaker is Azizza Davis Goines, president/CEO of the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce; live music and dancing; North African cuisine; and catering by Casablanca. Tickets are $75.

Halloween 2025 with Old School Ent & 97.5 9 p.m.-1:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West. Old-school jams, costume contests, and more. There will be three winners of prizes up to $250. Tickets are $20.
Family Fall Festival Noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2700 Tiffany West Way (near the entrance of River Bend Park), Rancho Cordova. A free family event featuring live animals, exhibitor tables, educational sessions, arts and crafts, nature walks, free lunch and beverage, family entertainment, and live music. Author Talk & Book Signing featuring: Larry Ukali Johnson-Redd 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Underground Books.
