A “Winter Wonderland” will take over Festival Park in Market Creek Plaza Saturday, giving Southeast San Diegans a chance to play in snow and celebrate the season.

The event, hosted by the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation, is free, family-friendly and will feature live entertainment representing multiple cultures in the community.

“Winter Wonderland creates a space where neighbors can gather, connect and enjoy the holidays together,” said Selena Ellis-Vizcarra, the Jacobs Center’s chief operating officer. “We love reuniting with familiar faces, meeting new people and experiencing holiday joy with our community. Please join us for an afternoon of great music and free hot chocolate for everyone!”

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and District 4 City Councilman Henry L. Foster III are scheduled to attend and speak at the event, which runs from noon to 5 p.m.

Scheduled entertainment includes Errrverybodi Line Dancers, Flor Hermosa, Junkyard Dance Crew, Rita Avalos, Habbibies, Danza Azteca por Quetzalhuitzilin Colibri, El Tesoro del Folklor, Alma Rose “La Cantante,” All of Us Productions and more.

Attendees can see real snow, pet animals in a petting zoo, climb a rock wall, get their face painted and visit with the San Diego Fire Department. Santa will be in attendance and people can take photos with him and a 20-foot Christmas tree.

Additionally, complimentary hot chocolate will be served while supplies last and raffles and giveaways will be held throughout the event.

Participating restaurants at Market Creek Plaza, including Asia Wok, will be offering a 15% off discount for event guests.

Festival Park at Market Creek Plaza is located at 336 Euclid Ave.
