SAN JOSE, Calif. – Yaphet Moundi recorded a career-high 26 points and Colby Garland tallied 20 points and nine assists to lead the San José State men’s basketball team (5-6, 0-0 MW) in a 86-82 loss to Stanford (8-2, 0-0 ACC) Saturday afternoon from Provident Credit Union Event Center, presented by Provident Credit Union.

The Spartans trailed by as many as 14 but surged late behind a 10–0 run in the final minute to bring SJSU within two. The Spartans had a chance to tie or take the lead with just seconds remaining, but were unable to capitalize.

Defensively, the Spartans forced 20 Stanford turnovers, converting them into 21 points. The Spartans also shot 90 percent from the free-throw line (18–20), a season-best mark.
