Candies, cookies, cakes, bars, twists, and plump slices of pie: December is rife with decadent desserts, from one-bite peppermint buttons to luscious pan-sized affairs brimming with all sorts of drizzles, frostings, and jimmies.
But December is also the Season of Non-Stop Doing, and sitting down with a cup of coffee in the early afternoon (very early, of course), or a decaffeinated tea, is also ideal, especially if you want to sip, snack, and go over your list of errands.
Few snacks pair with a coffee, tea, or other quick-break beverage as well as a doughnut, and if the goodie has festive flair? We’re there.
And that “there” is often Randy’s Donuts, that SoCal stalwart of fanciful buns.
Sweet news: The company’s 2025 treats are flavorfully festooning Randy’s Donuts shops, with a special Hanukkah Round on the shelves through Dec. 22.
Raspberry jelly is the tempting filling, and adding additional sweetness to the top? The classic powdered sugar, one of the treats that makes the Festival of Lights especially bright.
Other holiday confections are also on the Randy’s menu through this month and while supplies last, with a Holiday Sprinkles Donut, a Snowflake Donut, and a Holiday Bow Donut adding chewy cheer.
The Bow and Snowflake goodies are $4.20 each, while the Holidays Sprinkles is priced at $2.70.
The original Randy’s Donuts, the one with the huge donut on the roof, is not far from LAX, but there are shops across Southern California now, with locations in Santa Ana, North Hollywood, Pasadena, and points all around.
