FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A driver was killed, and 4 other people were injured in a car accident on Sunday.

CHP received a report of a car accident at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and American Avenue at around 1:30 a.m.

According to the investigation, a Chevrolet sedan was traveling northbound on Cherry Avenue at a high rate of speed while a Nissan Sedan was traveling eastbound on American.

The Nissan was being driven by a rideshare driver and had three occupants as it entered the intersection.

CHP says that the driver of the Chevrolet failed to stop and crashed into the Nissan.

The crash caused the Nissan to spin out of control until it came to a rest blocking the road.

The Chevrolet continued to travel in a northbound direction, crashed through a chain-link fence, and came to rest several hundred feet beyond the initial point of impact.

EMS found the Chevrolet driver, described as a 20-year-old male, was unresponsive in the car.

The driver was described as not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
