The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Tuesday for the 17th time in 18 days, decreasing 1.3 cents to $4.517.

The average price has dropped 21.2 cents over the past 18 days, including one-tenth of a cent Monday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It decreased nine consecutive days, was unchanged Dec. 8 resumed dropping last Tuesday.

The average price is 9.2 cents less than one week ago and 31.4 cents lower than one month ago, but 13.9 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.977 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 22nd time in 23 days, falling 1.8 cents to $4.414. It has dropped 30.1 cents over the past 23 days, including two-tenths of a cent Monday.

The average price dropped five consecutive days, rose a half-cent Nov. 29 and resumed decreasing Nov. 30. The run began one day after the end of a 12-day streak of decreases totaling 13.9 cents.

The Orange County average price is 10.8 cents less than one week ago and 36.2 cents lower than one month ago, but 11.8 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $2.045 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The run of 11 decreases in 12 days for the national average price totaling 9.3 cents ended with an increase of one-tenth of a cent to $2.907.

The run began with seven consecutive decreases. The average price was unchanged on Thursday and resumed dropping on Friday.

The run began one day after the end of a 12-day streak of decreases totaling 10.2 cents.

The national average price is 3.8 cents less than one week ago, 16.5 cents lower than one month ago and 11.7 cents below what is was one year ago. It has dropped $2.109 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
