FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Local leaders shared the results of the Advancing Fresno County Guaranteed Income Program.

The program granted 150 Fresno County families an extra $500 a month.

Philanthropists and donors partnered with the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission to pay for this.

Andy Levine, a Fundraiser Advisor, said, “It dramatically improved health, decreased stress, and increased full-time employment. It gave people the opportunity they deserve and need to be able to catch up and to thrive.”

For a family in Huron, that is what the program did.

Derril and Areil Program recipients said, “That gave us an opportunity to breathe for a year. you don’t know how awesome it is to be able to breathe because you don’t have the weight of finances beating you down, and that’s what this program allowed us to do. and it allowed us to not only bring that extra 500 in a month, but it allowed us to budget so we’re not going back down to that same place we were before.”

The EOC program helped people in the rural farming community of Huron and other communities in Fresno.
