Woman dead after being hit by car outside Sacramento VA Medical Center

(FOX40.COM) — A woman is dead after being hit by a car outside the Sacramento VA Medical Center, authorities said.

The UC Davis Health Department has identified the nurse as Novyrose Mejia and shared the following statement.

“UC Davis Health grieves the loss of Novyrose Mejia, a cherished nurse known for her dedication to patients and her family, UC Davis Health said to FOX40. “Her hospital colleagues describe her as hardworking and compassionate — a devoted advocate for those in her care.”

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was hit by a car that was pulling into a nearby emergency room parking lot on Saturday.

SCSO said the woman fell and hit her head against the ground.

The victim was taken to the VA’s emergency room but was later transferred to UC Davis Medical Center, officials said.

The sheriff’s office said deputies were notified of her death on Monday.
