BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Police Department will be holding a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, December 19.
Police say the checkpoint will be taking place at an undisclosed location within the city between 6:30 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and will check drivers for proper licensing.
Specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.
Impaired driving includes illegal narcotics as well as many prescription drugs, marijuana, and even some over-the-counter medications.
Drivers caught while driving impaired can expect jail time, fines, DUI classes, and other expenses that could exceed $10,000.
