Mother and 2-year-old daughter killed in Fresno County crash identified

The mother and daughter killed in a crash in Fresno County have been identified as 28-year-old Samantha Kellogg and 2-year-old Elena Kellogg.

It happened Wednesday morning at Jefferson and Walnut avenues, near Easton.

The California Highway Patrol believes Samantha was speeding in a Honda Civic when she ran a stop sign and crashed into a Chevy Tahoe.

Officers say Elena was not in a car seat and was partially thrown from the car, and that Samantha was not wearing a seatbelt.

Two teenagers in the Chevy were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

Neighbors say they’ve been shaken by a number of deadly crashes in the area over recent years.

The CHP wants to remind drivers that local law enforcement offers assistance to properly install child car seats.
