BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Kaiser Permanente Southern California has awarded a $60,000 grant to the Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) to combat food insecurity. The grant will allow CAPK to purchase approximately 81,000 pounds of shelf-stable and fresh foods, translating to 67,500 meals for underserved communities in Kern County.
During the check presentation, over 20 Kaiser Permanente volunteers assisted at CAPK’s food bank, packing boxes with essential food items to ensure vulnerable residents have access to nutritious meals, said officials.
“Food insecurity is a critical issue that affects the health and well-being of thousands of families. Through this partnership, we are proud to help provide healthy food options to those who need it most,” stated Alesha Brown, community health consultant at Kaiser Permanente Kern.
