CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — The Clovis Police Department is offering an in-depth look at officers who will patrol the streets to stop drunk drivers on Friday night.
“As our traffic unit enforces DUI and other traffic violations throughout the city, we will be posting photos and videos throughout the night on our Instagram story,” Clovis Police spokesperson Ty Wood said.
From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the PD’s social media channels will be updated, showing followers what officers are discovering on the streets of Clovis.
Wood says the police department wants to offer transparency to the public.
“We are looking for people to ask us questions, which is why we posted a story already,” he said.
Wood says the holidays are a time for celebration but with that comes an increased amounts of people drinking and driving.
He says the increase in drunk drivers calls for an increase in extra officers patrolling the streets.
“In addition to our regular patrol staffing, we will have five dedicated traffic officers, solely dedicated to enforcing DUIs,” Wood said.
Clovis Police are encouraging people to ask questions. You can find that opportunity on the department’s Instagram page and you have until 8 p.m. to get those questions in.
