This follows a previous robbery just six days earlier, Sunday, Dec. 14, which resulted in over $17,000 in losses.
“I have the alarm, I have the bars, I have a padlock on the front door as well. I mean, what else?” Helena Gibson, owner of the store said.
She expressed her frustration after experiencing roughly seven break-ins over the past 20 years.
Gibson, whose lease is up in April, is contemplating leaving Fresno.
“There’s nowhere to go where there’s not homeless unless you have 24 hours security,” Gibson said. “I’ve got to start exploring what my options are because this isn’t fun anymore.”
Fresno District Two Council Member Mike Karbassi, also a small business owner, acknowledged the challenges faced by local businesses.
“We cannot allow anyone regardless of their housing status to be permitted to vandalize mom and pop shops anywhere in our city,” Karbassi said in a statement.
Following a 20-minute call between Gibson and Karbassi, a site visit has been scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 23, with hopes of finding a solution to keep Strut Hair Solutions in Fresno.
