SAN JOSE, Calif.—Maya Anderson scored a career-best 29 points to lead the San José State women’s basketball team to a 61-56 victory over Sacramento State Sunday afternoon inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

Anderson was 12-of 21 from the field, making two three-pointers. She scored 19 of her 29 points in the first half to help SJSU to a 35-25 halftime lead.
Amira Brown scored a season-best 16 points, going 5-for-10 from the field, and made a crucial free throw at the end of the game to seal the victory for SJSU.
Brown also dished out three assists and grabbed three steals in the win.
Anderson and Brown also led the team with seven and six rebounds, respectively, for the game.
Katarina Anderson dished out four assists to go with three steals and four points scored.
Stella Sgro grabbed a career-high five steals in 16 minutes played. She also contributed three points and two assists.
San José State scored the first points of the game on a Sgro three-pointer, led for 24-14 after the first quarter, 35-24 at halftime and 47-46 after the third quarter.
The Hornets opened the fourth quarter on a 6-0 run, but San José State responded with an 11-0 run to open the lead back out to six points at 58-52 before winning 61-56.
San José State scored 24 points in the first quarter, the most in a quarter for SJSU this season.
