BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of a shooting that wounded another man at a mobile home park in Bakersfield was sentenced last week.

Kody Ellis received an eight-year prison term in the Aug. 25 shooting at Superior Mobile Home Park on State Road. He pleaded no contest to assault with a gun, and other charges, including attempted murder, were dismissed.

Ellis also was sentenced in two other cases. In total, he received 11 years and four months, prosecutors said.

The shooting victim told investigators Ellis fired a round that hit him in his left arm while he tried to retrieve his father’s phone, which was in Ellis’ possession.

In one of the other cases, Ellis allegedly took part in a train burglary with Misha Allen, who is facing a murder charge in the death of a woman whose body was found Aug. 8 after a fire at the mobile home park.

Allen and co-defendant Daniel Christopher Graham are due back in court in January.
