BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police screened over 880 vehicles during a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint Friday night, which also led to the arrest of three drivers for suspected DUI.

The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Unit conducted a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, December 19th, 2025, in the 8600 block of Hageman Road between 6 p.m. and 12 a.m.
BPD said 886 vehicles were screened by officers.
15 drivers were detained for further evaluation to determine their sobriety influence level. Three drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police.
Police said six drivers were cited for driving while unlicensed. Two drivers were cited for driving with a suspended license.
Eleven vehicles were seized at the checkpoint. Five of those vehicles were impounded, and six were released to licensed drivers, according to police.
The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
