BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man who broke into a Lake Isabella home and threatened a family before stealing a vehicle was sentenced Monday to eight years in prison, prosecutors said.
Herbert Brown, 54, was found guilty last month of robbery, burglary and vandalism. He has a prior robbery strike offense.
Early on April 23, 2024, Brown went up to a woman outside her home and demanded she hand over keys to a vehicle. She refused and Brown, angered, waved a metal bar at her.
While the woman went inside and woke her husband, Brown threw a rock at a glass door and entered the house.
Brown threatened the woman and her family — including minors — while armed with the bar, according to prosecutors. He grabbed keys to a vehicle and drove away, causing more property damage.
Found at his home, Brown was arrested with the help of a K-9.
