City of Tehachapi to host community walking events

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The city of Tehachapi and Tehachapi Police Department are teaming up to host community walking events starting in early January.

Tehachapi Walks are set to start Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Tehachapi Police Department, according to organizers. The walks will go throughout downtown and end at the police department.

Organizers said visitors and residents are invited to join.

During the walk participants can engage in light exercise and have an informal conversation with community leaders.

The walks are set to be held every Wednesday at 1 p.m. and follow various routes around Tehachapi. City officials said most walks will be about two miles.

The Tehachapi Police Department is located at 220 West C Street.
