BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — With the holiday season in full swing, shoppers at the Rosedale Promenade are experiencing a mix of smooth and challenging shopping trips.

As Christmas approaches, many are scrambling to complete their wish lists, facing long lines and rising prices.

Judy Jacobs, a shopper, shared her experience, saying, “I left it till the last minute, and if you do that, then you’re gonna stand in line.”

She noted waiting in line for nearly 50 minutes.

Dianae Stokes described the scene as “busy” and “really crowded in all the stores.”

Meanwhile, Luis Cisneros, shopping for gifts for his sons, said that despite the long wait times, he is more concerned about rising prices. “Last year, we were spending on PJS just in general, anywhere from $15 to a max $22. Now you see PJs going for $25 to $50,” he said, adding that online prices are often better.

Other shoppers, like Dianae Stokes, are feeling the pinch, noting, “Everything is a little bit up,” while Jessica Felix feels prices are “about the same as they were last year.”

Felix, celebrating her first Christmas in Kern County, found the experience positive, saying, “I found that a lot of people are still being very nice and not so grinchy.”

As the holiday draws closer, stores may see even more shoppers, so it’s advised to complete shopping as soon as possible.
