BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A driver is dead after a crash on Highway 99 near Olive Drive Friday morning.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol were dispatched to northbound Highway 99 near Golden State Avenue for the report of a single-vehicle crash just before 10 a.m.
Investigation showed a man was driving a gray 2012 Toyota Camry on northbound Highway 99 near Golden State Avenue at an unknown rate of speed and veered toward the edge of the roadway.
The Toyota struck the guardrail and continued out of control and collided with the center divider, according to CHP.
The driver died at the scene.
No other passengers were in the vehicle. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
A crash has forced the closure of two lanes along Highway 99 near Olive Drive in Bakersfield, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash impacted traffic.
