A man suspected in the theft of a firearm was hospitalized after he was shot during a confrontation Tuesday afternoon with Burbank police.
Offices responded to the firearm theft just before 1:30 p.m. at a business in the 1200 block of West Magnolia Boulevard. A man suspected in the theft was running and armed with a gun when police arrived, the department said.
“During the encounter, the suspect’s actions precipitated an officer-involved shooting,” police said in a statement.
The man was hospitalized in critical condition. Details about his identity were not immediately available.
No officers were injured.
Nearby streets were closed for the investigation.
