Fresno State Athletics and the Bulldog Foundation announced on Dec. 23 the completion of the Jami Hamel DeLaCerda $1 million matching challenge.
Athletics received an additional $1 million anonymous donation to the Valley Co-Op after the matching challenge was completed — doubling the challenge’s goal.
Hamel DeLaCerda, the founder of the Diamond Learning Center, donated $1 million to the Valley Co-Op fund in July. The donation was directed toward Fresno State football and its operational needs.
After her initial donation, an additional $400,000 was made in matching gifts to the Co-Op.
Since July, the Bulldog Foundation has announced numerous donations on its social media accounts, including a $100,000 donation to Fresno State football on Aug. 19.
The donations spearhead Fresno State Athletics’ efforts to compete in the Pac-12 and the ever-changing collegiate sports landscape.
Donations are directed to the sport of the donor’s choice. Coaches decide what the donation will affect. Some aspects include new gear for student athletes and locker room renovations.
