Much of California is bracing for rounds of wet weather this holiday week.

Parts of Central California could see several inches of rain and multiple feet of mountain snow overnight Tuesday through Friday.

Fresno County leaders say they’re ready for what’s to come.

“We’re going to have crew members available 24 hours a day,” Fresno County supervisors, District 5, Nathan Magsig said.

The county says public works crews are already staging for the storms.

“They’re making sure culverts and other areas along roadways are clear, because really, that’s what’s one of the biggest issues when we’re getting a lot of rain coming at one time,” Fresno County Office of Emergency Services EMS Director, Dan Lynch explained.

Burn scars are also a concern for the county as debris flows and mud slides are possible.

“Our public works crews have equipment. They have chainsaws, and they’re prepared to make sure that our roadways remain safe and passable,” Magsig said.

The county’s emergency services team says they’re prepared for the worst.

“We do have rescue teams from the Sheriff’s office, Fresno County Fire Protection District and the EMS services to respond with rescue in case there’s some catastrophic type of event. We really don’t expect that at all,” Lynch stated.

In Clovis, residents are loading up sandbags to prepare for heavy rain.

Some traveling through Prather are stopping in at ACE Hardware for emergency supplies like flashlights, batteries and tire chains.

“They come to us first because we usually have them in stock, and they fly out of here. You have to have them. They’re not going to let you up the hill if you don’t have them,” co-owner of ACE Hardware, Pat Sikora said.

ACE expects Christmas Eve to be busy as many hope to see a white Christmas.
