The Penguins are off on a three-game California road trip, starting tomorrow night against the Ducks in Anaheim, following up on Thursday against the LA Kings, and then on to San Jose to play the Sharks on Saturday.

Coming off a 6-1 loss on Saturday to the Rangers, coach Dan Muse had his team on the ice in Cranberry yesterday.

Muse says whether it’s after a win or after a loss, the Penguins have to have the same mindset.

The Penguins will likely be without defenseman Kris Letang, who was injured making a check into the boards on Saturday night and is labeled as “day to day.”  At the practice yesterday, they used a number of defensive combinations to try to find their best pairing, incorporating Matt Dumba and Connor Clifton into the mix.  Both of them are veterans who have been healthy scratches in the first three games of the season.

Muse said Letang and injured forward Kevin Hayes will accompany the Penguins to California.
