The run of 16 decreases in 17 days that dropped the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County to its lowest amount since Jan. 14 ended Friday with its largest increase since Nov. 8, nine-tenths of cent to $4.459.

The average price dropped 18.2 cents over the past 17 days, including four-tenths of a cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It decreased 13 consecutive days, rose two-tenths of a cent Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.

The average price is 1.7 cents less than one week ago and 28.2 cents lower than one month ago, but 5.4 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $2.035 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose for the second consecutive day following a run of 30 decreases in 31 days that dropped it to its lowest amount since Dec. 22, 2024, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.34.

The Orange County average price is 2.9 cents less than one week ago and 33.2 cents lower than one month ago but two-tenths of a cent more than one year ago. It has dropped $2.119 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price rose one-tenth of a cent to $2.848 after back-to-back decreases totaling 1.1 cents. It is 3.3 cents less than one week ago, 19.4 cents lower than one month and one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $2.168 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
