Four people were wounded, one fatally, in a San Jose shooting early Friday, police said.
Around 3:43 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in a businesses on the 800 block of South First Street near downtown, according to the San Jose Police Department. Three men were taken to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries, and a woman arrived at a hospital separately, police said.
“Despite medical intervention,” police wrote in a statement, “one of the adult male victims succumbed to his injuries” and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police said that the identity of the deceased would eventually be released Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
The remaining victims were expected to survive.
The shooter fled the scene before police arrived, and a motive remained unclear. Witnesses are advised to contact the SJPD Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283.
The homicide would be San Jose’s 26th of 2025, fewer than in past years.
