Re “Padres development team backs out of deal to buy, redevelop Tailgate Park” (Dec. 22): It was curious to hear the mayor personally blame the collapse of his Tailgate Park scheme on the plaintiff’s attorney, Cory Briggs. Surely he was informed by the city’s own lawyers (if not by reading an article or watching the news) that Mr. Briggs was representing our nonprofit government watchdog group, Project for Open Government. The mayor’s attempt to characterize our lawsuit as about anything other than his deeply flawed deal reeks of flop sweat.
