A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.

The motorist driving that vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers were dispatched at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday to the area of West Pacific Coast Highway and Cedar Avenue, regarding an injury traffic collision.

Police said a 2013 Ford Fusion was going eastbound on PCH in the No. 1 lane when it struck the woman, who was walking southbound in the marked crosswalk.

Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
