Major-Injury Pickup, Truck Collision in South Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Dec. 29, 2025) — A major-injury traffic collision involving a semi-truck and a pickup vehicle happened Monday morning in South Bakersfield at South Edison Road and Hermosa Road.

The crash happened on Dec. 29th at approximately 6:40 a.m. at an intersection with four-way stop signs, according to the California Highway Patrol. Initial reports indicated a semi-truck collided with a white pickup truck, leaving at least one vehicle disabled in the roadway.

CHP officials later upgraded the incident from a collision with injuries to a major-injury crash at about 7:11 a.m. However, it’s unknown how many were hurt.

Heavy fog was reported in the area at the time of the collision, which may have contributed to reduced visibility. A tow truck was requested to clear the scene, and emergency crews responded to manage traffic and assist those involved.

No additional details regarding the number of people injured or the cause of the crash were immediately available. The incident remains under investigation.
