TEMPE, Ariz. – San Diego State men’s tennis is sending three teams to the doubles round of 32 at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships after posting two wins on Friday.
Denis Maijorov and William Kleege tabbed the first win of the day, taking down uc Riverside’s Michael Chang and Andrew Lavine in a dominant 8-1 performance.
Brock Anderson and Aleksi Lofman earned their spot in the second round with an 8-4 win over Lucas ibarrondo Suarez and Noris Nedelcovici out of UC Riverside.
Both teams, along with Imran Daniel Hazli and Lars Johann, who had a first-round bye, will be back in action in the round of 32 on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

The Aztecs did not advance in singles competition. Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice put up a tough showing in his first appearance of the season, but fell 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 to Cal Poly’s Luc Hoeijmans. Hazli also took his match to three sets, but was ultimately tripped up 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 by UC Santa Barbara’s Matei Gavrea. Lofman battled in three as well, but came up short 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 to UC Santa Barbara’s Lorenzo Brunkow. Anderson fell 6-1, 6-1 to Arizona’s Sasha Rozin, and Johann was bested 6-0, 6-1 in his matchup against Cole Stelse of Arizona.
