FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — The two victims killed by a suspected DUI driver near Coalinga have been identified as husband and wife.

The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 145, south of Ford Avenue.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as 69-year-old Carlos Pimentel and his 62-year-old wife, Maria.

Both Carlos and Maria were residents of Coalinga.

California Highway Patrol officers say 30-year-old Shawn Borecha of Riverside was heading south on 145 when he veered into the northbound lane, trying to pass two cars.

Borecha’s car collided with the victims’ Hyundai, killing both head-on.

Borecha suffered minor injuries.

He was arrested for DUI and faces multiple felony charges, including manslaughter.
