Each rescued dog received a medical exam, vaccinations, dewormer and microchip before being settled in their kennels.

The enormous intake comes at a difficult time as Humane Society campuses are already experiencing severe overcrowding. On Tuesday morning, staff at the San Diego campus counted 725 total canines in care, operating well beyond capacity.

Here are the capacity percentages throughout San Diego County campuses:

Escondido Campus: 171% capacity

San Diego Campus: 161% capacity

Oceanside Campus: 160% capacity

El Cajon Campus: 126% capacity

The rescued dogs will undergo thorough medical and behavioral evaluations before being cleared for adoption. The Humane Society is calling on the community for support.

Donations going towards the dogs can be made here.
