San Diego’s Rise & Shine Hospitality Group hosted its 14th Annual Christmas Dinner for active-duty military personnel and veterans on Dec. 25 at its Breakfast Republic location in Encinitas. Rise & Shine Founder and CEO Johan Engman and his staff served up a complimentary meal of roasted turkey with sides such as sweet potato casserole and mac and cheese, (with pecan, apple, and pumpkin pies for dessert) to about 300 guests arranged through the Wounded Warrior Project.

As part of the event, gifts were passed out to the children courtesy of toy drives led by local nonprofit the Rob Benzon Dan Ferbal Foundation and Jagger & Kristi from the local radio station Magic 92.5.

“It is important for me to help make it the most wonderful time of year for those who need that extra support,” said Engman in a news release. “Our military families deserve so much, and then some. We look forward to giving back to these selfless families that give so much to our country.”

Breakfast Republic Encinitas is located at 251 N Camino Real.
