An Oakland County resident says he feels like “a weight has been lifted from his chest” after winning $1 million in the Michigan Lottery’s Super Raffle game.

The 30-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, won the cash when his Super Raffle number — 172580 — was selected as a $1 million winner in the drawing on Nov. 19. He bought his winning ticket at Kakoz 2 LLC, located at 36950 Dequindre Road and Metropolitan Parkway in Sterling Heights on the Troy border.

“My brother told me about the Super Raffle game, so I asked him to buy me a ticket when he went and got one for himself and I ended up getting lucky,” the man said. “When I saw my raffle ticket was a $1 million winner, I couldn’t believe it.

“I had to check it several times before it started to sink in that I really won. I feel stress free and like a weight has been lifted from my chest!”

The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000, rather than annuity payments for the full amount. He plans to save his winnings.

According to Michigan Lottery, Super Raffle featured the richest payout of any raffle game offered by the Lottery. It offered a top prize of $6 million and two $1 million prizes. Other prizes were: $100,000 (12), $500 (3,500), and $100 (15,000).
