BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Truxtun Tower, also known as the Bank of America building, is one of downtown Bakersfield’s most prominent structures.
The Bakersfield City Council is set to discuss purchasing that building, according to the agenda, during a closed session meeting on Wednesday.
The council is slated to negotiate the price and terms of payment for 1430 and 1440 Truxtun avenues, the agenda says.
City spokesperson Joe Conroy said there is no information that can be shared publicly at this time.
Bank of America permanently closed its Truxtun branch across from the Kern County courthouse on Feb. 27, 2024.
The city has been in talks of possibly acquiring the B of A building since February 2025, although no action has been taken as of January.
