MUSKEGON – Muskegon Catholic Central’s Timmy Railing took the Crusaders’ senior-day celebration to the next level on Saturday afternoon.
The senior running back exploded for 296 yards rushing on 22 carries and had four touchdowns in MCC’s convincing, 55-18 victory over Oakland Christian. Not a shabby way to celebrate being a senior.
The Crusaders jumped out early, outscoring Oakland Christian 14-0 in the first quarter and led 35-12 by halftime.
The advantage continued into the second half, and the Crusaders put up 20 points to Oakland Christian’s six.
Quarterback Bode Zygmuntowski rushed for 32 yards, finding the end zone twice, and threw for two more touchdowns. Landon Luchies caught a 48-yard score and Nathan Rowan chipped in an 18-yard receiving touchdown.
The defense was led by Zygmuntowski, recording 12 tackles on the day. Rowan had 7.5 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery while Railing threw in 6.5 tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception. Beckett Ream also had 6.5 tackles and pulled down a pick.
Muskegon Catholic Central (3-5) closes the regular season on the road at Buchanan on Friday.
The Crusaders celebrated seven seniors on the squad which include Zygmuntowski, Luchies, Railing, Will Fedewa, Carter Barron, Brock Backus and Harrison Scharmer.
