BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A man has been deemed competent to stand trial for attempted murder and related charges following a September 2025 shooting that injured a man near the Kern County Fairgrounds, according to the Kern County Superior Court website.

Bakersfield police said Anderson shot a 19-year-old man on the night of Sept. 22, 2025, in the 1100 block of Terrace Way, leaving the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The man survived the attack.

Despite his injuries, the victim managed to drive himself to the 700 block of South P Street, where bystanders found him and called 911. Officers arrived shortly after 10 p.m. and transported the man to a hospital. He was listed in stable condition at that time.

Anderson was arrested by Bakersfield Police on Sept. 25. He faces seven felony counts, including attempted murder, assault on a person with a semi-automatic firearm, assault with a person with a firearm, second-degree robbery, and three counts related to a convicted person possessing a firearm and ammunition.

Court records show that Anderson is scheduled to appear for a hearing on Feb. 4, 2026.
