BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Gas prices are falling around the nation and here in Kern County.

Last week gas prices fell around 11 cents in Bakersfield.

Many are now wondering if gas prices will be impacted as the U.S. continues to pursue Venezuelan oil.

GasBuddy’s Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, joined ARC Bakersfield to explain what is driving gas prices lower and how events in Venezuela might impact what drivers see at the pump.

De Hann noted that additional supply of oil from Venezuela will take years to make a meaningful difference to our gas prices.

He also shared that drivers could expect an increase in prices at the pump as we head into the Spring.
