CBS Stations has promoted from within to fill the role of Regional President and General Manager of its Northern California stations — a promotion that effectively adds Sacramento-area responsibilities to the person that’s been in charge of its San Francisco properties.

The new role will be held by Scott Warren, rising from President/GM of CBS Bay Area.

What does this mean for Deborah Collura, who has been President/GM of CBS Sacramento since 2022? She’s leaving the company, and there will be no longer a single person overseeing KOVR-13 and KMAX-31 in the market that also includes Stockton and Modesto.

As such, Warren will oversee the two stations in the Sacramento DMA as well as continuing to lead KPIX-5 and KPYX-44 in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose market. He continues to report to Jennifer Mitchell, President of CBS Stations and CBS News and Stations Digital.

Warren has led CBS Bay Area since March 2022 and during this time helped CBS Stations roll out a highly publicized AR/VR technology initiative across the company’s local newsrooms.

“Since joining CBS Bay Area in 2022, Scott has implemented and led groundbreaking AR/VR technology initiatives across all CBS stations,” Mitchell said. “He is a forward-thinking innovator and a transformational leader. He is well positioned to guide our Northern California stations into the future while building upon the strong legacy that Deborah established.”

Warren added, “I can’t wait to lean into the talented team at CBS Sacramento and help lead our Northern California stations as we continue to build on our community-focused journalism. I look forward to seeing what we can all create together across Northern California, while building on the innovative ideas and storytelling strategies we already have in place.”

Before joining CBS Stations, Warren served as the Senior Director of News and Content for Spectrum News 1 in Los Angeles, the Charter Communications MVPD-delivered all-news channel serving Southern California.

The California State University at Northridge alum served as an Executive Producer of KTVU-2 in San Francisco from 2004-2008. Between 2011-2013, Warren was outside of the TV business, spending a year creating and producing original tablet and mobile phone apps for Ringier Studios in Foster City before joining K-1 Global as an E.P. coordinating all aspects of “a major sporting event,” Warren says on his LinkedIn profile.

Warren began his career in 1988 as Producer for CNN in Los Angeles. Four years later, he became a producer for E! Entertainment Network. Warren’s entry into broadcast television came in 1996, with his appointment as Asst. News Director for KOLD-13 in Tucson. From 2000-2001, he was the E.P. for CBS O&O KTVT-11 in Dallas-Fort Worth, making his new appointment a return to the CBS fold.
