BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A local organization is working to make sure children in Kern County are receiving the care and support they need.

Court Appointed Special Advocated of Kern County, or CASA, are dedicated volunteers who speak up for the best interests of abused or neglected children in the juvenile court system.

CASA ensured that every child has a safe, stable, and permanent home by providing consistent support and advocacy.

As 2026 begins, CASA is setting new goals to expand volunteer support and raise community awareness so they can help more children in need.

CASA Executive Director Ashley Vorhees joined ARC Bakersfield to share more about their mission.

Vorhees noted that CASA is currently serving around 175 children in need with a goal of increasing their outreach in 2026.

More information about CASA can be found at kerncasa.org.
