CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — Off Pollasky and Barstow in Old Town Clovis, Little Dreamers Pediatric Dentistry is helping kids dream big.
Dr. Andrew Carranco and his wife, Dr. Beatriz Guerra, are the dream team behind the clinic.
“My wife and I are both dentists here, and our parents came here with an American dream,” Dr. Carranco said. “Here in Clovis, specifically, everyone has dreams that are huge and big for their kids. That’s where it all came from. It’s something that relates to us all.”
A trip to the dentist used to be scary and nerve-wracking for siblings Victoria and Scottlynd Copfer.
Now, coming to the dentist can be ful-“filling” and fun.
“It’s always really colorful and playful because after you get your teeth done, you get to choose a prize out of a treasure chest box,” Victoria said.
The CDC says from 2017 to March 2020, about 46 percent of kids aged 2 to 19 years old had untreated cavities in their teeth.
Little Dreamers Pediatric Dentistry starts seeing patients as young as infants and as old as 18.
There are even specialized appointments to help kids who have special needs.
“For our kiddos who are just more sensory sensitive, whether they are neurodivergent or whatever the case may be, what we’re trying to do is that we’re having our “sensie” appointments,” Dr. Carranco said. “Those are just appointments where the kids can come and meet us, the team, see the space.”
For mom Tricia Copfer, she sees how the good vibes ease the anxiety.
“They’re really nice, happy and positive, and even in a scary situation, they use terms that are kid-friendly,” she said.
From coloring sheets and games to stickers and even prizes, Dr. Carranco wants to make their clinic a unique experience for their patients.
“In pediatric dentistry, it’s really all about prevention,” Dr. Carranco said.
