BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Hazardous Materials Spill report said 96 barrels of produced water and one barrel of oil spilled in Taft.
The report was dated January 8, 2026.
According to the report, an operator arrived on scene at the reported oil field and saw a spill from a three-inch flow line. 96 barrels of produced water and one barrel of oil spilled onto a dirt road and entered the Ephemeral Stream.
The report said the stream was described as a dry creek bed in the dry season.
The report said it was stopped and contained.
A contractor is heading there to perform recovery and cleanup operations, according to the report.
